Hunting the Central Flyway
Each year, millions of waterfowl cross the continental United States as they migrate from their breeding grounds in Canada to their wintering grounds in Mexico, the Gulf Coast and the southern United States. The Central Flyway, which covers Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, is one of the major routes along which this migration takes place. It originates in the prairies of Canada and follows the Great Plains southward through the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma into the Gulf Coast states and Mexico. Nebraska is right in the middle of this flyway and hunters here have the opportunity to catch a large number of waterfowl passing through on their journeys.
Xtreme Waterfowlers takes full advantage of our unique location along the Mississippi Flyway. We closely monitor bird movements and weather conditions throughout the season. Our guides conduct daily reconnaissance to locate and pinpoint active feeding and roosting areas so hunters are in the right places at the right times. With our ability to move our blinds and locations easily, we can make the most of any weather conditions and provide our hunters with the most action possible while they are with us.

Duck Hunts
Duck hunting in Nebraska can be some of the best in the country and provides excellent opportunity to hunt migrant mallards, pintails, teal and other species of waterfowl. Our duck hunts are centered around positioning hunters in prime feeding areas and travel routes where the waterfowl will often work into the decoys.
Large decoy spreads, aggressive calling and effective blind placement can all be used in a variety of scenarios to create a setup that gets birds into shooting range. With a little patience and the right planning, every hunter deserves to experience the thrill of watching birds such as mallards tucking their wings and falling in at sunrise.

Goose Hunts
Canada goose hunting is another highlight of an Xtreme Waterfowlers experience. Large flocks of honkers migrate through the area during duck season and can be experience in a number of field hunting situations where they respond very well to calling and efficient decoy sets.
We create large spreads, replica of a feeding flock, to draw the birds into your kill zone so you get plenty of close opportunities. There is nothing better than to have a bunch of Canada geese go over on you early morning as the sun is rising over the marsh.

Combo Hunts
For those looking to experience some of the best waterfowl hunting available, our Combo Hunts allow duck and goose hunters to hunt two species in one day. Many waterfowl fields have mixes of ducks and geese using the area, and with one of our combo hunts you can capitalize on the full potential of the best waterfowl habitat available.
Combo hunts are a big hit with waterfowl hunters looking to take advantage of all that Nebraska’s waterfowl migration has to offer.

Best Time for Duck & Goose Hunting in Nebraska
Nebraska has lots of great waterfowl hunting opportunities from September through February as waterfowl follow the Central Flyway. Early season hunts will offer large numbers of teal and early migrating ducks, while the majority of duck and goose hunters look for the large concentration of waterfowl that follows the main migration of mallards and Canada geese out of the northern prairies.
Temperatures continue to drop here in Nebraska and we are quickly becoming a key migration point for millions of waterfowl searching for remaining open water and food sources. This is some of the best hunting of the season and we are seeing huge concentrations of birds in our agricultural fields, wetlands and rivers. Using our migration and weather forecasts to our advantage we are able to place our clients in the perfect positions at the right times to experience a very memorable and action packed hunt all season long.
What to Bring on a Waterfowl Hunt
If you’re looking for a successful waterfowl hunt, you need to have the right equipment for the conditions. And while it may seem basic, Nebraska weather can turn fast – especially during waterfowl season – so dressing in layers and having a waterproof arsenal is important.
All that is needed is a shotgun, the correct shotgun ammunition and appropriate clothing that might include camouflage in a field or marsh setting. Water proof footwear; whether it be boots or waders are also suggested along with any other personal items the hunter might desire. We will be happy to provide any additional information or suggestions for the hunter’s successful day.
Nebraska Waterfowl Hunting Regulations
All hunters participating in a hunt with Xtreme Waterfowlers will be required to follow the Nebraska waterfowl hunting regulations. This includes having a valid Nebraska hunting license, Nebraska state waterfowl stamp, federal migratory bird stamp and HIP registration.
For specific rules regarding migratory birds in Nebraska, view the state’s migratory bird hunting regulations. These laws help ensure bird populations are safe while at the same time make hunting available to sportsmen and women in Nebraska. All hunters should be aware of all applicable bag and season limits and equipment restrictions before they start a hunt.
